Artystki Maarja Nurk i Line Wasner pracują razem od początku 2023 roku. Interesuje je obcość istniejąca między organizmami roślinnymi i ludźmi oraz to, na czym ona polega i jak można ją celebrować. Ich projekt artystyczny obejmuje rysunki, malarstwo, fotografie, rzeźby z tkanin i akcje artystyczne, a w tej chwili skupia się na kostiumach przypominających krzewy. Kostiumy są metodą zrozumienia tego, co inne, i jego sposobów istnienia. Poprzez cielesną przemianę to inne może się w nas odnaleźć. Absurdalność stania się krzewem i zachowywania się jak krzew wzbudziła w artystkach nadzieję. Tak jak w dowcipie puenta powoduje wyzwolenie z utartych schematów myślowych, tak też jest możliwe, że drapieżne ludzkie działania zostaną zastąpione bardziej pokojowymi metodami współżycia zainspirowanymi światem roślin. Na festiwal w Słubicach i Frankfurcie nad Odrą artystki planują instalację, która będzie rozwijać się przez weekend w formie performatywnych interwencji.
Die beiden Künstlerinnen Nurk und Wasner arbeiten seit Anfang 2023 zusammen. Sie interessieren sich für die Fremdheit, die zwischen pflanzlichen Organismen und Menschen besteht, dafür, und wie sie sich zelebrieren lässt. Das künstlerische Projekt umfasst Zeichnungen, Gemälde, Fotos, Stoffskulpturen und Aktionen, im Moment liegt der Schwerpunkt auf Kostümen die Büschen ähneln. Die Kostümierung ist eine Methode, um das Andere und dessen Beweggründe zu begreifen. Mittels der körperlichen Veränderung findet das Andere seinen Eingang. Die Absurdität des Vorhabens selbst ein Busch zu werden und als Busch zu agieren, weckte ihre Hoffnung. Ähnlich wie bei einem Witz die Pointe einen Befreiungsschlag aus gewohnten Denkmustern darstellt, hegen sie die Hoffnung, dass sich die räuberischen Methoden von den friedfertigeren Methoden der Pflanzenwelt inspirieren lassen. Für das Festival in Słubice / Frankfurt (Oder) planen die Künstlerinnen eine Installation, die sich über das Wochenende durch performative Eingriffe entwickelt.
The artists Maarja Nurk and Line Wasner have been working together since the beginning of 2023. They are interested in the strangeness that exists between the organisms of plants and human beings, and in finding out what it means and how it can be celebrated. Their artistic project includes drawings, paintings, photographs, fabric sculptures and actions; at the moment it focuses on costumes that resemble bushes. Their costumes are a way to understand the Other and the ways it exists. By a bodily change, the Other can find its way into us. The absurdity of becoming a bush and acting as a bush gave hope to the two artists. Like the point of the joke changes common thought patterns, it is quite that violent behaviours will be replaced by more peaceful methods inspired by the world of plants. For the festival in Słubice and Frankfurt (Oder), the artists are planning an installation that will develop over the weekend through performative interventions.
